Surviving the Student Life
Before I decided to move out for University level, I spent hours, actually days thinking about whether I was really ready for the challenge. Even though living away from home ultimately meant more freedom, I was not sure whether I was ready to have that much. A mama’s boy, I grew up under my mother’s shadow and I had everything ready and waiting for me. Call me coward, but I had a comfortable life. I had unlimited supply of funds and there was nothing that I ever lacked of.
When I finally decided to leave, my mother and I agreed on a monthly sum. She said it would be enough to cover rent and utilities; and it would also be enough to cover the things I needed for the apartment and for school. What did I know about budgeting? Everything was new to me and I did not know how to fit everything with the very little that my mother send to me.
